A Strategic Replatform Leveraging Shopify’s B2B Functionality
Swanky worked with B2B retailer Cakesmiths (£20m+ GMV) on a strategic replatform to Shopify.
Migrating away from an inflexible, hardcoded platform, Cakesmiths new store leverages Shopify’s native B2B functionality to streamline backend operations and improve customer experience across the store.
During the project, our team completed a deep analysis of Cakesmiths’ existing platform and custom data sets during discovery. We successfully mapped complex custom functionality into Shopify’s native B2B feature set, aiming to reduce bespoke development and maximize Shopify’s built-in capabilities for better maintainability and scalability.
The new store’s B2B functionality includes:
- Different shipping thresholds and price lists for various customers.
- A loyalty scheme with personalised incentives based on customer behaviour.
- Varying levels of user access for different team members within wholesale customer accounts.
The result is a more streamlined, flexible store that enables Cakesmiths team to update content regularly and offer customers a personalised user experience.
