Swanky Australia Officially Launches in Toowoomba!

Earlier in 2019, we excitedly revealed that Swanky would be opening an office down under, taking our passion for ecommerce to the other side of the globe.

Now, we are delighted to announce that Swanky Australia has officially launched in Toowoomba! This new base in the ‘Garden City’ joins our HQ in Exeter, UK, to secure Swanky as a global force in the ecommerce industry.

Led by Sean Clanchy, the Swanky Australia team have years of experience in ecommerce, along with some seriously impressive Shopify expertise.

Among the Aussie clients with whom the team have already had the honour of working with are Goondiwindi Cotton, who saw year-on-year sales double after migrating to Shopify, and Peter Williams Riding Apparel, whose revenue increased by 300% on their new Shopify site!

Swanky Australia are also delighted to be working with Toowoomba-based family department store Hannas and eco-friendly sanitary product brand Bamboo Babe, with plenty more super-exciting projects in the pipeline!

Celebrating in our signature Swanky style

To mark the formal opening of our Australian Shopify agency, we wanted to celebrate in style. And that we did!

Over 50 esteemed business leaders, retailers and community officials gathered at our new office location last week to help us celebrate.

Several visitors came from Sydney, Goondiwindi and the Sunshine Coast to celebrate our new presence in Aus. Attendees included Dr John McVeigh MP, Federal Member for Groom, Rhys Furner, Head of APAC Partnerships for Shopify Plus, Matt Garven and Scott Goodman of Sydney-based customer review platform Okendo, and Chana Imsirovic of Sydney-born ecommerce agency Owl&Monk.

We were thrilled that some of our clients were able to join in the celebrations as well, including Sam and Harry Coulton of Goondiwindi Cotton, Helen and Jamie Barkla of Peter Williams Riding Apparel, and Michael Hanna of Hannas.

After a tour of our swanky new space, guests were introduced to the Swanky Australia team before heading upstairs to the George Banks rooftop bar for a celebratory toast.

Dan McIvor, Founder and CEO of Swanky, travelled all the way from Swanky HQ in the UK to celebrate with the Australia team! Speaking of the launch party, he said:

“It was a real celebration both of Swanky’s growing maturity, the excitement of opening new markets and a welcoming of new staff and merchants to the Swanky family.

The APAC region is one of the fastest-growing markets in ecommerce, and this new base in Toowoomba means we will be better able to service ambitious, high-growth brands in the region who are looking to get the most out of their online presence.”

Discussing the choice of location for our Australian branch, Sean added:

“Following our UK precedent, we have selected another regional hub, keeping our overheads low, recruiting directly from the local university and working hard to provide digital pathways for regional graduates. 

Toowoomba, with its new airport facility providing direct flights to Sydney, its close proximity to Brisbane, the University of Southern Queensland on our doorstep and a vibrant local economy, seemed a natural choice.”
