Shopify has announced this week that subscription apps not integrated directly to Shopify Checkout will stop accepting or processing subscription orders after 18th October 2024.
This article explains more about how this change will affect Recharge Checkout users in particular, including details about a Shopify-compliant solution from Recharge and how Swanky can help with the transition to this new version.
Recharge Checkout will cease to function on Shopify
One of the subscription apps that is not integrated directly to Shopify Checkout and will therefore cease to function for Shopify brands in October 2024 is Recharge Checkout.
However, Recharge has partnered with Shopify to create a new version of its software that leverages the Shopify Checkout and Shopify’s Subscription API: Shopify Checkout Integration. This gives retailers a solution that meets the requirements outlined by Shopify.
There are 9,000 brands already using the Shopify Checkout Integration since it launched in November 2020. The Recharge app integrated directly with Shopify Checkout offers a range of benefits for users, such as a native checkout that supports subscriptions, improved checkout conversions, and a more seamless checkout experience for customers.
Next steps: Converting to Recharge’s Shopify Checkout Integration
Brands currently using Recharge Checkout will need to convert to Recharge’s Shopify Checkout Integration.
Recharge will be converting brands over to their Shopify Checkout Integration in designated cohorts ahead of the October 2024 deadline, ensuring ample time and support to make the transition.
A dedicated checkout conversion team has been established to support retailers throughout the conversion process (this team has already helped over 1,800 retailers through the transition). Recharge will soon be reaching out to retailers with details on specific timings for converting.
